Prioritizing
Hi guys! I know it's been awhile since my last craft project. It was because I was busy with my studies at the moment. FYI! I just enrolled myself to a class for a Master in Psychology degree and an online class about Creativity, Innovation and Change which kept me occupied these days.
Here's a glimpse from their site:
However, I still want to keep you updated about my creative side. So, here's what kept me busy.

I will share to you today what I recently found out on the web. This is about the MOOCs. Have you heard about it?

Well, I was just really excited about it when I heard it from an old high school friend. She was taking MOOCs too and she posted the link on her FB profile which I clicked and was immediately hooked up. The link lead me to COURSERA.org which is a site offering different courses online from different top notch universities for FREE. Imagine that! You will have an online course from great universities across the globe without having to pay anything (internet connection and electricity charge exempted).
This MOOC thing is gaining popularity worldwide and I must say that this is a very promising change to the educational system. Everyone who has an internet connection and a PC or a mobile phone will have the chance to learn and earn courses that were offered from distinguished universities. How kind of them to offer this type of education for free. I hope that Philippines would adopt this kind of learning system soon. So that education would not remain as a privilege but a right for everyone.
Coursera.org offers a wide range of course. You must visit their site really.
To quote them:
How it works? We believe in connecting people to a great education so that anyone around the world can learn without limits.Coursera is an education company that partners with the top universities and organizations in the world to offer courses online for anyone to take, for free. Our technology enables our partners to teach millions of students rather than hundreds.
Here's a glimpse from their site:
So far, it's been a great first week of class. I learned a lot even with the short lecture videos and the exercises plus the quizzes are good. You can also have the chance to meet new friends because of the discussion forums. You can ask help from your classmates all over the world or ask you professors straight ahead. I also like the Peer Assessment wherein you can ask everyone about what they think on your exercises. The site is really great.
If you wanna make the most out of your internet time, why not enroll yourself on online classes like what Coursera is offering!
Have a great day!

that's it.. very interesting post... and thanks for sharing... can you share us details about the time arrangement of the online course..
ReplyDeleteor maybe ur online schedule...
Hi Teri! Well it's just the first week and I haven't come up yet with a fix online schedule. But with the course I'm taking up at Coursera, they're using the EDT time so I have to keep up with that. With the classes..ahm.. the professors uploaded lecture videos and you can watch it anytime within the week and of course you have to answer designated exercises for each topic. There's also a short quiz to maximize learning. You have to answer them all within the the week too. I usually watch the videos in the morning and come back again after lunch for the exercises. I also read the discussion forums to be updated with the whole class.
DeleteI have to say that this MOOC is really a great way to learn..it's almost similar to one-on-one classes. It's also fun and interesting because you'll have a wide range of races from different parts of the world. I hope that answers your question. Check out Coursera for more info. I put a link to their site at the end of my post. Hugs!
thank you for answering.. I am interested to join too.. hope the lessons are not that hard.
