DIY Vest from Old Shirt

by - Monday, July 08, 2013

Hi there!

I've been a bit busy fixing some stuff lately...

But I have come up into something I'd like to share with you...

This is a tutorial on how to make a Vest out of an old T-shirt. I've seen this on YouTube and find the video by Wobisobi easiest and thriftiest.

So, here's my own version of Wobisobi's Draped Vest.

I used an old black shirt I bought at Baguio City. It has a print at the front but I think that would add up some style.

Lay your shirt in your working area.

Fold it halfway...

Cut out the sleeves.

Sleeveless shirt.

Get your scissors again and cut the collar part.

Cut out the sides of the shirt too like the photo above.

When you open up the shirt you should have a big circle like this.

Lastly, you can cut out the lower part of the shirt.

And, you can wear your own vest..nice and new.

A super easy craft you can do in just a few minutes. I did mine for only 10 minutes I guessed with all adjustments I made. I think the printed part just added a unique touch into my vest. I liked it so much, I can pair it to any shirt I have. I suggest you use extra large shirt if your size is large. If the old shirt you're going to use is kind of small for you, you will have a hard time cutting off the collar and sleeves part until vest would fit you.

Happy Re-styling!
